Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m telling you how to drive traffic to your business.

Lots of grown-ups think sales start as soon as their shop is online. Nope! To earn, you have to bring people to your offer. That’s what driving traffic means. This is the start of Lesson T5!

Setup isn’t enough

Setting up your business is already a HUGE achievement. But here’s the honest truth: you probably won’t earn anything just by being set up.

Money can start coming once you work on traffic and content. That’s the work that brings eyeballs to your offer. Eyeballs just means people who see your stuff! (Not real eyeballs rolling around. Eww!)

The work that starts now is marketing. Reaching people, and finding your future customers among them. And you do it again and again. Bringing traffic is never a one-time thing!

Traffic first, then content

Here’s a smart trick: pick HOW you’ll bring visitors first. THEN make your content. Content works best when it’s made for one way of bringing visitors.

  • Going viral on social media? Your content is social media posts. Usually every day!
  • Social media ads, with more money? Your content is an ad picture, in the size the ad app wants.
  • Search engines? Helpful articles and well-written product pages.
  • Pinterest? Tall pin pictures that link to your pages.

The way decides the shape!

Eyeballs, every day

Once your business is set up, think of one word every work day: eyeballs!

Running your business now means two things. One: delivering your product or service. Two: bringing eyeballs to it.

Maybe you make or deliver things in the morning, and bring new eyeballs in the afternoon. That’s just an example, not a rule. The point is that marketing gets its own special time.

Little steps are best

You don’t need hours of marketing every day. Lots of grown-ups, especially with a job, do just a few focused times a week. What matters is that you keep going. Traffic grows over time!

No agency needed

Anybody can learn these ways. Most grown-ups start with free ones, because money is usually tight at the start. You needed very little money to set up, and you can start bringing visitors for free too! Paid ways can come later, when you know what your people like.

Is it working?

In the first weeks, look for little signs, not sales:

  • Are more people visiting than before?
  • Are some pins, posts or listings getting more clicks?
  • Are people saving, sharing or asking questions?

These signs show which content and which ways deserve more of your time. Sales usually come once visitors come steadily. Write down your numbers every week, so you can see the trend!

No face needed

Lots of ways to bring visitors work without your face. Search, Pinterest, marketplace listings, email and teaming up can all bring visitors while you stay in the background.
