Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m telling you about traffic methods for beginners. Those are the ways to bring people to your business!

There are SO many. It can feel like a giant buffet. So Lynnaider made a list of the fourteen ways that grown-ups with little businesses use most. And ranked them from easiest for beginners to hardest!

Where the list comes from

Lynnaider made this list from twenty years of doing marketing, plus new research. Every way gets its own article, all explained the same way: what it is, free or paid, how it works, what content it needs, a beginner’s tip, and the numbers to watch.

The fourteen ways

  1. SEO (free): helping search engines find and show your pages.
  2. Going viral (free): making posts that apps want to show to new people.
  3. Marketplace optimization (free): helping your listings show up higher in a marketplace’s search.
  4. Creator teamwork (free): making something together with another creator, to reach each other’s followers.
  5. Social media ads (paid): paying an app to show your stuff to more than just your followers.
  6. Pitching to editors (free): getting free mentions from journalists, newsletters or podcasts. Grown-ups call it PR.
  7. Having affiliates (pay only when they sell): letting other people tell others about your offer, for a little piece of each sale.
  8. Marketplace ads (paid): paying for a special spot inside a marketplace.
  9. Search ads (paid): paying to show up at the top of search results.
  10. GEO (free): making your content easy for AI helpers to quote.
  11. Sponsoring others (paid): paying creators or magazines to show your offer.
  12. Display ads (paid): picture ads on other websites.
  13. Native ads (paid): paid articles inside online magazines.
  14. AI helper ads (paid): paying to show up next to answers in AI tools.

Each one has its own Lynnaider article, in this order!

Why free ways are at the top

Beginners usually have more time than money. And they’re still learning what their people like. Free ways let them learn without losing money.

Paid ways aren’t worse. They just fit better a bit later, once you know your people!

How to pick

Go where your people already are. Do they search on Google? Look around on Pinterest? Shop on Etsy? Scroll on Instagram? The best first way usually meets your people right where they already hang out.

Pick what fits your strengths. Love writing? SEO and Pinterest fit great. Love short videos? Social media might fit. Rather not make much content? Marketplace optimization and affiliates are good choices.

Mind your money. Most beginners should start free. You needed very little money to set up, and your first marketing can be free too. Paid ways can come later, as small tests.

Start with one or two. Trying ALL the ways at once usually means doing none of them well. Pick one or two, keep going for a few months, and watch the numbers. Add more when you see what works!

No face, no agency!

Almost all fourteen ways work without your face. SEO, Pinterest, marketplaces, affiliates and most ads can be all about your products and content.

And no agency needed. Each way can be learned step by step!

What’s next?
