No Code Needed! How to Build an AI Agent Without Code

Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m telling you how to build an AI agent without code. Code is the special computer language programmers write. And you don’t need it!

Grown-ups call this “no-code.” There are two ways!

The basics

You write instructions in normal words. Who your helper is, how it talks, what it must never do, and what it’s for. You upload your own stuff, like guides or question lists. And you set some rules for its chats.

Then, when people ask questions, the helper makes answers right away, while staying inside your rules. It doesn’t just look things up. It thinks about each chat. That’s what makes it an “agent”!

Way A: inside an AI app

The first way is building it inside an AI app, like a Custom GPT in ChatGPT, or an AI-powered artifact in Claude. Your helper lives completely inside that app.

People get to it with a shared link. But they need their own account on that app, and some features might need a paid plan.

How you earn in Way A

Usually not directly, because the link can be shared. So creators often put the helper inside something bigger, like a course or membership.

You can change the link if people misuse it. But then you have to send the new link to everybody who should have it.

The big plus of Way A

You don’t pay when people use it! Their own account pays. So your costs stay the same, even if your helper gets super popular!

Way B: on a separate platform

Platforms like Pickaxe let you turn your helper into its own tool. You can put it on your website, or inside a digital product.

People don’t need a ChatGPT account. And you can charge them directly, with a monthly price, or a price per use!

Watch your costs in Way B

Here, you need to plan prices and limits carefully. Every time someone chats, YOU pay a tiny bit to the AI company. Usually just a few cents.

But if someone chats a LOT, it could cost more than they pay you! So set chat limits for each price plan, and check your costs regularly.

Instructions are the heart

Describe its job, who it’s for, how it talks, its steps, and topics to avoid. Show it examples of good answers. And keep testing! Tiny word changes can make a big difference.

Three oopsies

  1. Fuzzy instructions. Fuzzy rules make fuzzy answers!
  2. In Way B, unlimited chatting for a tiny price. That can cost you more than you earn!
  3. Skipping tests. Try tricky questions before your users do!

A story

A dog trainer builds a Custom GPT that answers training questions her way. She includes it in her paid online course, so students can ask questions between lessons. Her costs stay the same, no matter how much they chat. Woof!

A year later, she builds a second version on a separate platform and sells it monthly by itself. She sets a daily chat limit per person, to keep costs under control.

What grown-ups usually ask (and I answer)

Can I build one without code?

Yes! Instructions in normal words, plus your own stuff.

What’s Way A?

Building inside an AI app, like a Custom GPT or a Claude artifact.

What’s Way B?

A separate platform like Pickaxe, so you can sell it directly.

Do people need an account for a Custom GPT?

Yes, their own ChatGPT account.

How do I earn with a Custom GPT?

Usually inside a course, membership or coaching.

Who pays on a separate platform?

You do, a tiny bit per chat. So plan limits!

Will there be step-by-step lessons for each of the ten ways?

Maybe! If lots of people want them. Join the waitlist and you’ll know first.

Can I start for free or almost free?
