Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m telling you about online freelancing examples. Freelancing is the third of Lynnaider’s ten ways to earn!
Let me introduce five pretend friends who each sell a different skill online. They’re based on real freelancers!
These characters are invented, just for learning.
What they have in common
Freelancing means selling your skills and time online, one project at a time.
Look at each one with three questions: What do they offer? Where do clients find them? What makes them different?
Meet my five friends!
Leo the Language Connector
Leo grew up speaking English AND Spanish. He helps businesses talk to people in Latin America in a way that really fits their culture. His idea: “Send me any text ChatGPT translated for you, and I, a human, will make sure it fits the culture!”
He’s on Fiverr. He doesn’t fight AI, he builds on it!
Ana the Data Whisperer
Ana works with numbers at a big company during the day. She noticed lots of businesses don’t understand their own numbers. So she turns messy numbers into easy pictures called dashboards!
She’s careful that her freelance work doesn’t compete with her day job. She uses AI, but she’s the human who checks the numbers make sense. On Upwork, she calls herself the “translator of data into actions.”
Norah the Event Designer
Norah is a sales assistant who often planned company parties. She turned that into a side business! Now she sells “virtual event kits” for businesses having online events.
She finds clients on Freelancer, and happy clients tell others about her!
Ivan the Accent Coach
Ivan is a theater artist who’s amazing at accents and voices. Lots of people want to speak English better, or learn a special accent. His idea is unique!
Clients send him a 10-minute video of themselves talking. Ivan records an answer, showing what he noticed and how to fix it. He sells on Fiverr with marketplace ads, and he plans to open a social store too.
Dominic the Activity-Minded Therapist
For twenty years, Dominic has helped people start hobbies that are good for their feelings. Now he sells a package! Clients pay once, and every month for a whole year, they get one hobby idea with helpful links.
Psychologists often buy it for their own clients. Dominic has his own website. He brings visitors with SEO and GEO, and sometimes with search ads.
What they teach us
First, use what you already know. YOUR life might hold a service too!
Second, a clear offer. Easy to understand, easy to buy!
Third, work WITH AI. Several friends offer the human check that AI can’t fully do. That’s a strong spot to be in!
Make your own!
Try finishing these sentences: “My skill is … My clear offer is … Clients find me on …”.
Small and private
Most freelancing marketplaces are free to join, and only take a piece when you earn. You’d be surprised how little you need! No monthly payments before you have clients. And you can bring visitors yourself.
Clients often like to see who they work with. But you can still freelance without your face! The next article explains how.
What’s next?
The next article explains freelancing in detail: what it is, and who it fits. The whole module is in the book on our products page. Want a grown-up to help plan your service? Go to our services page.
