Thank-You Money! Affiliate Marketing for Beginners

LYNNIE VERSION

Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m telling you about affiliate marketing for beginners.

No product of your own! But there’s a catch: you need to make content regularly.

What is it?

Lynnaider’s definition: telling people about other companies’ products or services, to earn a commission. A commission is a little piece of each sale that happens because of you. Like thank-you money!

Why it takes lots of content

In return for not having a product, you make content often, sometimes every day! That’s what makes it harder than it looks.

Starting from zero? Then it’s one of the harder ways to earn with all by itself.

Already have a business with fans? Then it’s a pretty simple extra! A maker who already posts workshop videos can add links to her tools with almost no extra work!

How it works

You don’t sell products yourself. You recommend other companies’ products, as part of your content about one topic.

When a company sells something because of you, and they can see it came from you, you get a piece of the price. Everybody wins!

Only paid for results

Grown-ups call this performance marketing. The company only pays when something measurable happens, usually a sale. Nothing happens? Nothing is paid.

Some programs pay a fixed amount for a sign-up instead, like when someone starts a free trial.

The last click rule

Here’s a tricky one! If a buyer clicked links from several people before buying, usually only the LAST click counts. That person gets all the thank-you money. The others get nothing!

So content people see right before they decide, like reviews, comparisons and “best of” lists, usually earns more. Content that only makes people curious often helps someone else get the last click.

Free visitors matter most

Most affiliates count on free visitors: from search, social media and recommendations. Paid ads are allowed in some programs, but lots of them have rules. A common one: no search ads with the brand’s own name, because then the brand pays twice for the same customer!

Always read the program’s rules before running ads. Breaking them can cost you ALL your thank-you money, and your spot in the program!

Across borders

Lots of affiliates miss out here. Their links often go to a store for just one country. So visitors from other countries land on a page that doesn’t work for them!

Fix it by recommending products people can buy everywhere, or connecting several Amazon stores for different countries!

Is it worth it?

Already making content, or have a business with fans? Usually yes!

Starting from zero? Be honest with yourself. It can take months of regular posting before the thank-you money adds up. Maybe mix it with another of the ten ways to earn, like a digital product or a shop. They can earn more from the same fans!

Small and private

Joining most affiliate programs is free! You’d be surprised how little you need. No monthly payments before you have visitors. And lots of affiliates never show their face, like the example characters!

What’s next?

The next article explains what you really offer as an affiliate, why your fans aren’t your clients, and why being trustworthy matters. The whole module is in the book on our products page. Want a grown-up to help you start? Go to our services page.

What grown-ups usually ask (and I answer)

What is affiliate marketing, simply?

You recommend other companies’ products, and get a piece of each sale.

Is it good for beginners?

Easy to join, but hard to earn from zero. Much easier if you already have fans!

What is the last click rule?

Only the last link clicked before buying gets the thank-you money.

Can I use paid ads?

Lots of programs have rules. Always check first!

Are there step-by-step lessons for starting each of the ten ways cheaply?

Maybe! If lots of people want them. Join the waitlist and you’ll know first.

Can I start for free or almost free?

Yes! Lynnaider shows you how to start affiliate marketing for free, or for very, very little money. You’d be surprised! And a free robot helper called Lynnaider Compass helps you step by step!
