Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m explaining what a conversational AI agent is. Conversational means it talks with you!
What Lynnaider means
Agentic AI means building chatty AI helpers that give advice by themselves, and then letting people pay to use them. Once it’s set up, a helper can help tons of people, without you doing much. But keeping it working is still your job!
What is it?
A conversational AI agent gives people advice that changes with what they say. It uses your rules, what you taught it, and AI thinking.
Like a super-smart assistant you trained yourself!
Different from a course
A course gives everybody the same videos or pages. You just watch or read. A chatty helper talks WITH you, back and forth!
Ask a course a question, and… nothing. Silence. Ask a helper, and it answers, based on what you taught it and what the person needs. Our online courses, coaching and AI agents article compares them.
Three ingredients
A helper built in ChatGPT (called a Custom GPT) or with tools like Pickaxe usually mixes three things:
1. Clear rules
Rules tell the helper how to act: its job, how it talks, what it must never do, and what it’s trying to do. Like: “You’re a friendly sleep coach for parents of toddlers. Always ask the child’s age first. Never give medical advice.”
2. What you teach it
You upload your own guides, checklists, question lists or notes. The helper uses them when it answers. Grown-ups call it a knowledge base.
3. AI thinking
A big AI brain, like the one behind ChatGPT, lets the helper make an answer for every conversation. Grown-ups call it a large language model. It uses your rules and your know-how for each person’s question.
Together, it feels like a guided chat, not a packaged product!
Why it can be a business
A helper turns what you know into something lots of people can use at the same time! Once it’s built, it can answer hundreds of people while you sleep. That’s really different from freelancing, where every client needs your time.
Our AI agent business examples show people doing this, from food advice to trip planning.
Where it helps most
Where people need personal advice on one clear topic, like planning, coaching or learning.
What it can’t do
AI helpers can make mistakes! They might misunderstand, or say something that sounds right but is wrong. That’s why good rules, good know-how and clear limits matter. Especially for health, law and money!
So tell it to admit when it doesn’t know something. And for tricky topics, to suggest asking a real expert. That honesty protects everybody!
A story
A florist builds a helper for picking flowers for special days. Her rules: ask about the occasion, the money, and the person’s favorite colors, then suggest three bouquets and explain them. She uploads her guide to flower meanings and seasons.
Someone writes: “My grandma turns 90 next week and loves blue.” The helper asks about money, then suggests three bouquets, just like the florist would!
