Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m telling you about automation for online business. Big word! It just means things that happen by themselves.
Automation is why one person can run a whole shop alone. And here’s a surprise: most automation has nothing to do with AI!
What is automation?
Automation means a machine or program does a job, so you don’t have to do it by hand every time. It’s a really old idea, like a factory belt!
Most automation just follows rules. “When this happens, do that.” Or, “Every Monday, do this.” No thinking at all!
Some examples:
- A payment that goes through by itself at the end of the month.
- A “thank you for your order!” email that sends itself.
- A factory belt that starts when a sensor feels something.
No AI there! Just rules. Most automatic things in the world have no AI at all.
How it helps you
Automation won’t run your business by itself. YOU are the most important part! But it sends shipping messages, tracks orders, takes payments and shows ads. Without it, you’d need a whole team!
Free robot helpers
Lots of automation comes free with the apps you’ll use. Big online shops send order emails and take payments. Email tools send a “welcome!” message when someone joins your list. Planning tools post your pins at set times.
You need very little money to start. Free plans have the basic helpers a beginner needs. Paid helpers with monthly fees can wait, until you see which jobs really eat your time.
You don’t have to automate everything
Phew! You don’t need a program for every job. Too many programs feel like a big messy pile. A simple setup you understand beats a fancy one you’re scared to touch!
A simple rule: Let a robot do a job if you do it often, it’s the same every time, and it doesn’t need your special thinking. Do it yourself if it needs care, creativity, or a real connection with a customer. That keeps your business smart AND human.
A little example
Someone sells digital planners. A customer finds a pin, clicks to the shop, and pays. The shop takes the payment, sends the file and sends a receipt. All by itself! The seller only makes the planners and keeps bringing new visitors.
Helpers help you hide
Automation is a great friend if you want to stay private. Checkout pages, emails and planning tools talk to customers for you. No face needed!
Every way uses automation
All ten ways to earn use automation somehow. Affiliate links count sales by themselves. Digital files get sent by themselves after paying. Print-on-demand orders go to the printer by themselves. And content apps count views and pay you by themselves.
That’s why one person can do it all alone!
What’s next?
The next article is about the AI side: AI, machine learning and deep learning. The whole lesson is in the book on our products page. Want a grown-up to help you pick what to automate? Go to our services page.
What grown-ups usually ask (and I answer)
What’s the difference between automation and AI?
Automation does jobs by itself. AI is one special kind that can look at information and decide things. Most automation isn’t AI!
Do I need to understand AI?
Not the techy details. Every way to earn works without that.
What is rule-based automation?
Programs that follow fixed rules, like an order email that sends itself.
Are there step-by-step lessons for starting each of the ten ways cheaply?
Maybe! If lots of people want them. Join the waitlist and you’ll know first.
Do I have to automate everything?
No! Too many programs feel messy. Do some jobs yourself.
Why learn about automation before the ten ways?
Because every way sits on top of it. Engine first, then the car!
How can I start for free or almost free?
Lynnaider shows you how to start each of the ten ways for free, or for very, very little money. You’d be surprised! And a free robot helper called Lynnaider Compass helps you step by step!
