Hi! I’m Lynnie! You made it through the five theory lessons and all ten ways to earn! Wow! Now you understand online business better than most beginners. Today I’m sharing seven principles for online entrepreneurs to take with you.

Why little rules help

What you DO with what you know matters!

Keep them somewhere you can see. Look at them when you feel stuck, rushed or sad.

The seven

1. One idea, one way, one home

Later, you can grow, and you probably will! But at the start, focus is your superpower. One idea, one way to earn, and one home online. Then you can learn properly before adding more.

Our online income techniques for beginners article helps you pick where to start.

2. It takes time

Things usually take longer than you think. That’s normal! Most online businesses grow slowly at first. Then faster, once content, reviews and fans add up.

Count your progress in months, not days!

3. Keep your job

For most people, a job is still the safest money. So build your online business next to it, not instead of it! Your job keeps you steady while your business grows.

Our article on how to start an online business while working explains more.

4. Take care of yourself

Always take care of yourself, and ask for help when you need it. Being online means being seen, comparing yourself, and sometimes mean comments. Taking breaks and talking to people you trust are part of a healthy business!

Our article on protecting yourself online has helpful ideas.

5. The internet remembers

What you post online can stay there for a very, very long time. So make it something you’ll be proud of, today AND in ten years. Think before you post, and be kind!

6. Bringing people is a must

A perfect product that nobody sees earns nothing. Whatever way you pick, plan from the start how people will find you. Our traffic methods for beginners article shows the options.

7. Oopsies are part of it

Every grown-up with an online business made mistakes too. That’s how you learn what works for YOU! Treat each oopsie like a clue. Fix it, and keep going.

A story

An office worker loves baking. She keeps her job and starts ONE way to earn: digital products. One printable recipe planner, in one big online mall. She expects slow progress, and gives herself a year.

She pins on Pinterest every week, rests on weekends, and learns from her first not-so-great photos. Twelve months later, she has steady sales, and plans her second way to earn. Yum!

What’s next?

The next article is Lynnaider’s dictionary of online business words, explained simply. The whole book is on our products page. Want a grown-up to guide your first steps? Go to our services page.
