LYNNIE VERSION

Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m explaining audience monetization setup. Remember the five setup jobs in our setup checklist? This way always needs two: your offer, and an agreement with the program.

Your customer is the app or ad company, not the public. So lots of setup jobs just disappear!

Must-have 1: your offer

Here, your offer is your application to a money program. And what you offer is your fans!

When you apply to YouTube, TikTok, Meta, or an ad company like Mediavine or Raptive, you show how many fans you have, how regular they are, and how much they care.

Your numbers ARE your offer. Subscribers or followers, monthly views or visits, watch time, and how much people react.

Growing toward the numbers

Before you can apply, you need to reach each program’s minimum numbers. Getting there is THE main job of this way to earn, before any money comes!

So make it a goal from the start! Check your numbers every month.

Must-have 2: the agreement

The agreement with the app or ad company is what turns the money on. Without it, your content earns nothing directly, no matter how many fans you have!

On social media, it’s applying and getting accepted. For websites, it’s the agreement you sign with an ad company. Both explain how your money is counted, when you get paid, which content counts, and when they can stop working with you.

Read the rules!

Read them carefully before you apply! Programs can and do stop ads on single videos or articles, or pause whole accounts, when their rules are broken. Knowing what’s allowed protects the money you work so hard for.

Getting paid? Not like a shop!

You never take money from your fans. The app or ad company pays you directly, based on how your content does, on its own schedule. You just add your bank details or payout account. That’s receiving money, not taking payments!

Shipping? Never!

No real things at all. Nothing is made, packed or sent!

Before you apply

Check that you reach the numbers, that your content follows the rules, and that your fans are real. For a website, add your privacy page and cookie banner. Get your payout details ready.

Then apply, read the agreement carefully, and keep posting while you wait!

Three oopsies

  1. Applying before you reach the numbers. That usually means “no” and a waiting time.
  2. Joining an ad company without updating your privacy page and cookie banner.
  3. Ignoring the content rules. Then ads can stop on your stuff.

A story

A blogger writes about knitting. When she has enough visitors, she applies to an ad company and signs its agreement. Before the ads go live, she updates her privacy page to name the company, and adds a cookie banner.

She adds her bank details in the dashboard. From the next month, she gets paid every month for the ads on her blog. Knit, knit, earn!

What’s next?

That’s the end of the content module, and of ALL ten ways to earn! Wow! The next article shares a quick checklist for selling to other countries. The whole book is on our products page. Want a grown-up to help you set up? Go to our services page.
