Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m telling you about the marketing funnel for beginners.
Before you make content, it helps to know WHY you’re making it. The marketing funnel shows the journey from someone first hearing about you, to someone buying from you!
What’s a funnel?
You know a funnel, right? It’s wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. Like for pouring juice into a bottle!
Grown-ups use a famous one called AIDA:
- Awareness: someone finds out you exist.
- Interest: they want to know more.
- Desire: they WANT what you have.
- Action: they do something, like buy it!
Lots of people hear about you at the top. Fewer get interested. Even fewer really want it. And fewer still actually buy. That’s why it’s shaped like a funnel!
Top and bottom
There’s an even simpler way: the top of the funnel, and the bottom.
Top of the funnel is about your brand. It introduces you, gets you known, and builds trust. Like helpful tips, behind-the-scenes posts and pretty pictures about your niche.
Bottom of the funnel is about selling. It turns interest into action. Online, it often leads straight to a checkout page!
Traffic and content work together
Traffic brings people INTO the funnel. Content moves them through it!
Your style makes you special
Whenever you bring visitors, you’ll be making content somehow. And even if your idea isn’t super unique, your content is one of the best ways to stand out! Remember adding yourself to your version of a simple idea? This is the same!
One of the most important things is finding your own style. Your style is the personality in your words, pictures and messages. It makes people recognize you, even without your face or voice!
How to find your style: Imagine talking to a friend about your work. How do you talk about it? What energy do you have? Do you describe it with colors, sounds, feelings, or logical reasons?
Use those natural things, and your content will feel real. Find your style early and stick with it!
An example
Someone makes handmade wooden toys.
- Top: She shares short workshop videos and tips on picking safe toys.
- Middle: She shares close-up photos and the story behind each toy.
- Bottom: She runs a small ad for her most popular toy, linking straight to its page with a clear price.
Some buy right away! Others follow her for weeks first. Both lead to sales!
Content for every step
- Awareness: easy to find and share, like pins, short videos and helpful articles.
- Interest: answers questions and shows details, like tutorials and close-ups.
- Desire: reviews, before-and-after examples, and customer stories.
- Action: clear product pages, simple checkouts and direct offers.
You don’t need all of them at once! Start with one piece for awareness and one for action. Fill in the middle as you grow.
In short
You can cover the whole funnel with free content, and small tested ads later. And your style can live in your colors, words and pictures. No face needed! The funnel works for all ten ways to earn.
