Hi! I’m Lynnie! Today I’m telling you about online safety for entrepreneurs. Entrepreneur is a big word for somebody who starts a business!

Lots of business guides skip this part. But when you start a business online, lots of people you’ve never met can see you. So staying safe matters from your very first post!

How Lynnaider thinks about safety

Lynnaider cares a LOT about your safety, and the safety of others. Safety online is a giant topic, so Lynnaider picked the most important parts and put them in two groups.

Two sides of safety

Protecting yourself. Like what you leave behind online, comparing yourself to others, handling mean comments, and how apps choose what you see.

Protecting others. Especially the people you help with your business. And everybody else too!

Both sides matter the same. A business that keeps its owner safe but hurts its customers isn’t okay. And a business that’s great for customers but wears out its owner isn’t okay either!

Why being seen changes everything

In real life, a little shop is seen by people walking by. Online, one post can be seen by thousands of strangers! That’s powerful. And it’s why safety matters.

It’s okay to ask for help

Here’s something really important. It’s okay to ask for help, anytime! You can always take a break, or even stop, to take care of yourself. That’s totally normal. Lots of people do it.

Help can come from lots of places:

  • A friend or family member can help you see things clearly.
  • A professional can help with stress or worry.
  • Other business people in online groups can help with practical questions.

You can’t plan everything

You can’t plan everything ahead. And you don’t need to! Be ready to change things, so that you feel safe first. Your business will change as you learn. And your safety habits can change too.

Staying private is a safety choice

One of the easiest ways to feel safer online is keeping your personal life out of the spotlight. Build your business around your products, and decide later how much people see you.

Keeping customers safe

Protecting others starts with small choices:

  • Keep customer info only in trusted tools, and never share it with people who don’t need it.
  • Answer customers honestly, even if the answer isn’t what they hoped.
  • Think about who else might see your posts. A post about money, health or relationships might reach someone going through a hard time. Write with that person in mind. That makes your content kinder and safer for everybody.

Simple is safer

Every account, tool and subscription is one more place where information lives, and one more password to protect. You need very little money to start, and you don’t need lots of tools. A small, simple setup is easier to keep safe!
